Social Work Action Network update and call for papers

(Swan brings together social care practitioners, service users, academics and students toward campaigning against managerialism and privatisation in the sector.)

1. How to support youth practitioners to challenge Gender related violence event on 24th October. The event is free and will be held at Amnesty HQ, London. It is based on a EU project supporting the developing and evaluation of training to combat Gender related violence and develop new resources for training youth practitioners in the 4 EU countries.

The conference combines presentations of evaluation of approaches taken in developing training to support youth practitioners and interactive ideas session thinking about how to support practitioners and develop training on  GRV - particularly for teachers, youth workers, social workers and health professionals who work with young people. 2. The Crisis in Mental Health Services, meeting Saturday 8th November
Another reminder of this event involving front line mental health social workers, survivors, survivor groups and others. It is a day meeting (10:30am-4:30pm) at the John Barnes Library, 275 Camden Road, N7 0JN - nearest tube is Caledonian Road. See previous post on this blog for details.

3. Ethics & Social Welfare Journal - Call for papers for a Special Issue on social justice. The journal Ethics and Social Welfare has a special issue planned for 2016 with guest editors Charlotte Williams and Donna McAuliffe which will be entitled ‘Engaging with Outrage! Social work, social welfare and social justice'. They will be asking for contributions from practitioners and service users as well as from academics, so it's very relevant to SWAN,Best wishes & solidarity
